Hurry… They are coming
Have you ever experienced that frantic rush to tidy up your home when unexpected guests are on their way? It's like a whirlwind, where you swiftly pick up, straighten, and clean, channeling the speed and precision of a Nascar pit-crew changing tires at the Daytona 500.
But have you ever wondered why we feel compelled to do this? Is it due to embarrassment, pride, perception, or respect? While these factors may play a role, I believe the underlying reason for this urgency towards immaculate cleanliness is the awareness that what lies hidden behind our home's exterior walls will soon be exposed to someone other than ourselves.
Now, imagine if we approached our lives and the decisions we make with the same level of dedication we put into preparing our homes for guests. What if we applied the same urgency, intensity, and focus to tidy up and organize our lives? The more important question is, why haven't we done so already?
Perhaps it's because we tend to believe that what resides within us is concealed behind the façade of our external lives. Maybe we think that as long as our outward appearance is polished and presentable, no one will ever get a glimpse of our true internal condition. However, we should pause and consider how long it will be before an unexpected visitor arrives.
In the words of the legendary College Basketball Coach, John Wooden, "Be more concerned with your character than your reputation because your character is what you really are, while your reputation is merely what others think you are."
Every decision we make carries weight and significance, as each one has the power to either bring us closer to success or push us further away from it. Let us remember to make every decision count, understanding that our choices shape our character and ultimately define who we are.
